M. Yesekaon (AKA Yessey) is a rapper, lyricist, writer, creative practitioner and producer from Colwyn Bay, North Wales. Beginning his musical experiment in 2021, Yessey had been writing poetry and performing at local events long before he ever began working out what was needed to make music. Yessey has lived in multiple countries throughout the world since he left home at 19 hitchhiking and has a unique perspective on how the world works. An avid reader, he is often influenced by the work he is ingesting. Currently he’s living in a van with his two cats and girlfriend, making music and beats whilst on the road.
He graduated from BIMM Manchester in 2023 and was selected for the Forté Project in 2024, supporting emerging artists in Wales. Early in that same year he was awarded the NextGen Music Fund to help complete his next project. Unafraid to be complex with his music and lyrics, Yessey is inspired by Hip-Hop in the 90’s through to modern day artists such as Nix Northwest, Loyle Carner, Mac Miller, Mach-Hommy and Tyler, The Creator.
In December 2023, Yessey joined the new collective ‘Underground Artist Movement’ (UAM) as Executive Producer based in Colwyn Bay with the aim of helping propagate a new era for Hip-Hop along the north coast of Wales. Though relatively new, the collective have performed numerous shows and plan to stage more, with a studio recently being competed for Hip-Hop and MOBO music in general. Yessey continues to collaborate with a multitude of artists and is able and willing to creatively share with anybody who wants to. Yessey has worked and released music with Penfld, B-Mellow, Zhubat, TrippyPicture, BaybMilo, KayD, The Honest Poet and SHANEO.
Described by Larynx Entertainment as ‘one of the most hardworking in the country’, M. Yesekaon (Yessey) has been an ever-present, ever-expanding artist on the Welsh landscape.
