  • Sister Wives

Unearthing forgotten feminist histories through myth and landscape, Sister Wives weave wild tales braiding the Welsh and English language. Haunting 4-part harmonies drift atop heavy psychedelia, avant space rock and ferocious fuzz-laden folk. Their songs deal with ever shifting expectations and injustices, ancient heroines, the divine feminine and the veiled mysteries of ancient lands. With their glam-droog-acid-stomp, Sister Wives return with their second album in 2025.

A jam-packed 2023 saw Sister Wives’ star rise; having released their debut album Y Gawres via Libertino Records in late 2022 to great acclaim, the record was recently shortlisted for the prestigious Welsh Music Prize (alongside John Cale and H Hawkline). The band were also invited in for a Marc Riley BBC 6 Music live session, and toured the UK extensively, with their debut London headline show at the Shacklewell Arms so busy, many had to watch through the door.

Praise came from press inc. NME, Shindig! Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, Gigwise, Under The Radar, Raven Sings The Blues and many more (see quotes below). They’ve also received regular play on BBC 6Music, Radio X, Soho Radio, NTS, BBC Wales and BBC Cymru and have been in session for Welsh TV channel S4C.
Sister Wives also returned to Green Man festival in 2023, playing the Walled Garden stage to hundreds on the Thursday night, plus appearances at Deer Shed, Long Division, Float Along, Get Together and more. In previous years they’ve played FOCUS Wales, Sŵn Festival and Sheffield’s Sensoria.

Sister Wives have supported Gwenno, Self Esteem, The Lovely Eggs, The New Eves, Adwaith, Crack Cloud, The International Teachers of Pop, The Eccentronic Research Council, and Current Affairs.

The band’s debut EP Gweler Ein Gofid was also re-released on 12” vinyl by Liberino in 2022 after initially selling out, with three new remixes from Mandy, Indiana, Gnoomes and Ani Glass.

All four members of Sister Wives began their respective journeys in music in the punk and DIY music scenes. Industrial, grating synth and guitar sounds form their foundation, while vocals are haunting and harmonic.

Sister Wives are Donna Lee (vocals/keys), Rose Love (vocals/bass), Lisa O’Hara (vocals/drums) and Rachael Loomes (vocals/guitar).
