  • Asifuzzaman Khan (Dhaka International FolkFest)

    Asifuzzaman Khan is a festival organizer and music project curator based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with a profound commitment to both local and international music. Since 2015, he has been at the helm of the ‘Dhaka International FolkFest,’ Bangladesh’s largest and most celebrated international folk music festival, where his leadership has significantly expanded the festival’s reach and influence.

    In 2020, he pioneered the ‘Dhaka International Guitar Festival,’ Bangladesh’s first virtual guitar festival, which included performances, workshops, and competitions in collaboration with the Calcutta Classical Guitar Society. As an ATSA Fellow, Asifuzzaman has curated numerous notable music projects, including the documentary ‘Mro Song and Dance,’ which delves into the music and instruments of the Mro indigenous community and was featured at the Goethe Pop Up Festival and WOMEX 22 in Lisbon, Portugal.

    In 2023, he curated ‘Lalon & Chagayang,’ a unique collaboration that showcased folk music from the Kushtia region and the Marma indigenous community of Bandarban, featured at WOW Bangladesh. Asifuzzaman remains deeply committed to promoting the rich musical heritage of Bangladesh and providing platforms for artists to share their talents globally.
