As Kick Arts UK, Barney is a booking agent and artist manager, also advising venues, festivals, musicians and other creatives on a consultancy basis. Prior to setting up Kick Arts UK in 2019 he ran Aldershot’s award-winning venue and arts centre West End Centre for almost 20 years, and managed rock band Reuben throughout their career (including sessions on Radio 1, tours with Billy Talent, Biffy Clyro etc). He currently works with acclaimed folk/alt-folk artists Chris Wood, Stick In The Wheel, 9Bach, Sarah Smout, Dennis Ellsworth and Hannah James & Toby Kuhn. He also works with LiveAV-electronica outfit void_null, new classical composer DecibelBoy and gig theatre company Platform 4. Barney mentored Amelia Coburn for English Folk Expo in 2022 and is currently mentoring Anna McLuckie as part of the same programme, is a member of the MMF, and lectured in music business at UCA for several years. Along the way he has been a tour manager, arts development officer, lighting tech, promoter and musician.
