I am Lecturer in Cardiff University School of Music, specialising in popular music studies. I am part of Prosiect Pūtahitanga – an interdisciplinary research project which seeks to identify and acknowledge points of connection between musicians using Cymraeg and te reo Māori (the Māori language) in their work and explore how this usage impacts on their sense of identity, belonging, and engagement within music scenes in Cymru (Wales) and Aotearoa (New Zealand). At FOCUS 2025 we are working with a delegation of Māori artists and looking forward to helping to facilitate new connections with artists from Cymru and beyond.
