HIRAETH is an atmospheric black metal band hailing from Wrexham, North Wales. Encapsulating the fierce, defiant spirit of Wales, HIRAETH channels the power of Welsh struggles for self determination throughout history, into a modern black metal soundscape. The band formed in late 2024 with members Rob Goulding (Guitar + Vox), Olivia Matthews (Guitar), Correy Jarvis (Bass) and Josh Fielden (Drums). From the get go, the band immediately began working on musical ideas which eventually became our debut single ‘Hiraeth’ released May 2025 and our EP, ‘Tales of Resistance’ September 2025. Musically, we are inspired by bands such as Agalloch, Venom, Dawn Ray’d and Ulver, but we also bring individual influences from a variety of Metal subgenres. Lyrically, our themes draw from Welsh History, the Welsh struggle to reclaim language and identity and Welsh folklore and myth.
