Su San is a Malaysia-based independent cinematic electro-darkpop artist, songwriter, and producer, as well as an advocate for creative wellness. Grappling with her identity as a Southeast Asian and the sounds of her land, she crafts immersive sonic worlds that explore self-acceptance, belonging, and transformation. Her music fuses ethereal electronic elements with haunting textures, drawing inspiration from artists such as FKA Twigs, Sevdaliza, and Lana Del Rey, alongside modern poets like Savannah Brown, Sylvia Plath, and Ocean Vuong.
A Chevening Scholar and BBC Horizons Launchpad alumna, Su San earned her MA in Songwriting and Production from the University of South Wales, Cardiff, in 2022. Since then, she has released four EPs and her debut album, WHERE THE SUN CAN’T FIND US, and collaborated with UK-based band Luna Carina, earning three features on BBC Music Introducing.
Following her international debut at Music Lane Festival Okinawa 2025 (Japan), and performances at AXEAN Festival 2025 (Indonesia) and Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival, Su San continues to bridge Southeast Asian narratives through her music and multidisciplinary practice. Later that same year, she founded Wicked Lady Publishing, an initiative dedicated to educating, raising awareness, and empowering young female songwriters in Malaysia. Her contributions to the local music scene led to her being shortlisted as one of the Top 5 Finalists for the British Council Alumni Awards 2026 in the Culture, Creativity, and Sport category.
