Beginning his career as a musician, Derick Mackinnon went on to form award-winning press and marketing agency New Found Sound, and co-founded Scottish industry conference Wide Days.
He currently co-writes a weekly column for The Scotsman, and leads radical new music/technology social enterprise Off Axis, helping artists tour the UK and Ireland while keeping 100% of their ticket income and playing festivals like FOCUS Wales, Un-Convention (Manchester), Liverpool Sound City, Output (Belfast) and Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.
