  • Morgan Thomas (Wrecsam2029 UK City of Culture Bid)

Morgan is the Project Coordinator for Wrexham’s widely supported and ambitious bid to become UK City of Culture 2029. A fluent Welsh speaker who grew up in the local area, he has spent nearly a decade working within Wrexham’s arts and cultural scene. His experience includes roles as a Community Development Officer and leading on events and live music programmes at the multi-award-winning Tŷ Pawb arts, markets and community space.

Morgan played a key role in Wrexham’s bid for UK City of Culture 2025 – where the county was named runner-up – contributing to both community engagement and event delivery. Through this work, he brings extensive knowledge of the competition and a strong understanding of what it takes to deliver a compelling cultural vision. Passionate about the cultural landscape of Wrexham and Wales, he is a dedicated advocate for the power of the arts to connect and inspire communities.

Alongside this work, Morgan is a Trustee of the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and manages local ‘wizard grunge’ band Groom The Giant, who are performing at this year’s FOCUS Wales festival. A committed supporter and lover of live music, he continues to champion grassroots and emerging talent across the region.
