Piyapong Muenprasertdee or ‘Py’ is a Thai music industry academic and lover of DIY music making. He holds a B.Eng. and MS in Industrial Engineering, and an MBA focused in entrepreneurship.
In 2014, he co-founded Fungjai – a music platform, events organizer and marketing company based in Bangkok, Thailand best known for its indie music community and live events, such as Maho Rasop Festival – Bangkok’s first international independent music festival; Bangkok Music City (BMC) – Thailand’s first international music conference and showcase festival; and AXEAN Festival (formerly known as ASEAN Music Showcase Festival) – Southeast Asia’s first intraregional collaborative music showcase festival.
Py is passionate about networking and connecting people, and possesses a strong commitment to promoting the sustainable development of the music industry. This passion stems from his previous experience as a consultant in the sustainability and climate change sector. Py’s recent involvement as a member of the National Soft Power Strategy Committee, Sub-committee on Music has offered him the opportunities to contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives and national policies. Notably, this includes spearheading the establishment of a national music export office and a creative content agency.
