Richy Muirhead (SAMA Events Ltd | PITCH Scotland) is a Glasgow-based event and project manager with over 16 years of experience in the music industry. He is the founder of the Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMA), one of Scotland’s longest-running platforms supporting emerging artists, and co-founder of PITCH Scotland, an international hip hop and underground music conference and showcase.
Through these platforms, Richy works extensively with Scottish artists while also building international networks across the UK, Europe and North America. His projects deliver award programmes, conferences, showcases, cultural exchanges and international export opportunities for artists and industry professionals.
Across the year, SAMA and PITCH present artists and industry activity at events including SXSW London, Liverpool Sound City, New Skool Rules, Pro Weekend Fest, SHIP Festival and FOCUS Wales.
Alongside running his own projects, Richy has worked as a freelancer with organisations including Roadrunner Records, Red Bull, BBC Scotland, Creative Scotland and PRS Foundation, championing fair, artist-focused initiatives that reflect contemporary music culture.
