We are Dewin (‘wizard’ in Cymraeg), a band spewed forth from the magical moorlands of Pembrokeshire. We are so unlike the bands of this world of mortal men that we exist in our own genre – Wizard-pop. Our live performances are a tour-de-force of colourful cagoules, titillating jazz harmonies, funky funky drumming, jazz organ solo battles, poetry, and our very own symphonic wind band (more or less). All in Welsh, of course. Our set is a fantastical journey from church to heartbreak, and from the ozone layer to the sweltering heat of the desert as we try to find our magical home under the oak tree, where we can be happy and in harmony with nature. Lefi Dafydd, one of the band members, has also found a Theremin that he attempts to make full use of, when he’s not involved in his third clarinet solo of the night, or singing harmonies with that wizard of composition that is our leader, main keyboardist and main singer, Jencyn Corp. We are often joined by guitarist Mefin Hughes and percussionist Dylan Sanders-Swales, though as a collective, Dewin is pretty flexible (as wizards naturally are, of course).
